Recent Makeup Favorites
I always love seeing what other people keep in their makeup bags. It’s so fun to see everything they love enough to use on a day to day basis. In college, I loved to go to my roommate’s room and see what new makeup she was using and what were her tried and true products. I feel like I change up my makeup routine fairly often, but I typically keep the same base products. Without further ado, here are my recent favs!
Ilia Skin Tint: I have used this for years. As I’ve gotten older, my skin has become more dry and my dry skin loves this skin tint. It is slightly oily/greasy, but honestly I love it and thinks it gives a little glow. I love the fact that there is SPF in it, and I think it’s made with more natural ingredients and it’s like skincare and makeup mixed together? I will say that if I don’t use a setting powder with my skin tint , the oil from the skin tint will pick up on my bronzer/blush brush and create a film on my bronzer/blush, making them not as vibrant. I recently tried this tinted sunscreen and my eyes would not stop burning. I would say that this gives light-medium coverage, which is perfect for daily use. I use the shade, “Bom Bom,” but will go lighter in the winter.
Tower 28 Concealer: Concealer is one of those products that I like to swap every now and then, but this one has been in my makeup bag for a while now. It’s marketed as a “hydrating serum concealer,” so again, my dry skin loves this. I have super bad dark circles (my husband says it’s from my chronic allergies), and this does a good job at covering them! I’ve come to terms with that fact that I just don’t love super heavy/full coverage concealers on me, even if they do cover my dark circles better. I love how hydrating and smooth this concealer is. It also is not cakey on me! I use shade “6.0 IE.”
Laura Mercier Setting Powder: I don’t use this everyday, but I use it on the days that I use my powder blush and bronzers for the reason mentioned above. I like it! I’ve used this one in the past and can’t really tell a difference between the two. This does the job! I use the shade, “Transclucent.”
LYS Bronzer Stick: This is a very new to me product, but I am really loving it! I use it as a contour stick. It is very pigmented and I’ve really loved it so far. I used to use this bronzing stick, but I wanted to just switch it up when it ran out. I do like this LYS one better, maybe for the color? I can’t really say why I like this better, but I just do. I use the shade, “Motivate.”
DIBS Bronzer: This is a semi new-to-me product that said roommate recommended to me. Thanks, Emily! So far, I have loved everything that I’ve tried from DIBS. This bronzer is really pretty, has some shimmer, and has a good color payoff. I use the shade, “Caramel Cappuccino.”
DIBS Blush: Another DIBS product! I really love this blush. It is a really pretty light pink with some shimmer in it. I have used this for several months and keep going back to it! I use the shade, “Pop Star.” Online, it looks way more vibrant than it actually is. It shows up on me as a lighter pink. The example picture with the model is pretty accurate.
Benefit Brow Pen: I have very thin eyebrows that need a lot of filling in, and I have loved this. The applicator is nice, but does take a few tries to get the hang of. I think it looks very natural. I have also used this Anastasia one that is very similar, but I like the fact that this Benefit one has more tips to make the application faster. I could go with either one of these brow products. I use the shade 3.5 in the Benefit brow pen.
Anastasia Brow Freeze Gel: Speaking of my eyebrows, my eyebrows are pretty unruly and love to naturally grow downwards? I love this brow gel because it actually keeps my brows in place and I can brush them up and know that they will stay all day. This brow gel is super strong though, so when I say your brows will not move all day, they will not move. This is one of those products where you will either love it or hate it. Sephora has a 30 day return policy though, so why not try it and just return if you hate it?
L’Oreal Mascara: I have used this for 8 years I think. It’s cheap, it does the job, and I love it! I have it on an Amazon subscription to be delivered every 3 months so when it arrives at my doorstep, I know it’s time to throw out the old one and replace it with the new one. I heard you’re supposed to change out your mascara every 3 months, so that’s what I do.
Oh, I also love this highlighter. My makeup artist from our wedding used this on me and I loved it, so I’ve been using it ever since!
I’m not tied to any sort of lip products or setting sprays. I have some that I like, but nothing worth including in this post. I think that covers all of my makeup favorites!
